Throughout his career, Dr. Campbell has provided clinical supervision to doctoral students, strengthened community-minded autism initiatives, and contributed to community-based research relevant to the autism community. When not spending time in the world of academia, Dr. Campbell and his wife enjoy spending time exploring the Western North Carolina mountains with their golden retrievers, Samson and Althea.

Western Carolina UniversityJonathan M. Campbell is a licensed psychologist , professor, and inaugural director of the PsyD program at Western Carolina University. He earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, a master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Western Carolina University, and a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Memphis. He completed a pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Yale Child Study Center. Dr. Campbell has worked in the field of neurodevelopmental disabilities for over 25 years. His work has been supported by the Organization for Autism Research, CDC, Commonwealth of Kentucky, and Office of Special Education Programs. He serves on the Editorial Boards of Focus on Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities, Journal of Developmental and Physical Disabilities, Journal of Psychoeducational Assessment, and School Psychology Review. He is also a proud member of the Scientific Council for the Organization for Autism Research.

Dr. Campbell's current research efforts focus on neurotypical peers’ attitudes and acceptance of autistic peers, first responders’ interactions with autistic individuals, and interprofessional training within the field of neurodevelopmental disabilities.
