Interprofessional Training in AutismProject INTERACT is an interprofessional professional preparation program for psychologists, special educators, and speech-language pathologists funded through the U.S. Department of Education. In collaboration with the Coulter Faculty Commons, we are examining the impact of the project on scholar and family outcomes.

Peer Understanding & Acceptance of Autism DifferencesWe are interested in identifying and improving stigmatizing attitudes towards autistic students in educational settings. Our work has been supported by the Organization for Autism Research.

dr. lauren gardner, Director of the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital (JHACH) Autism Program
Lauren Gardner, PhD, ABPP is the Director of the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital (JHACH) Autism Program as well as the JHACH Doctoral Internship in Professional Psychology. She is a licensed Psychologist in the state of Florida, a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, and is board certified in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. Dr. Gardner is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Gardner’s areas of specialization include evidence-based assessment of neurodevelopmental disabilities, program development, and collaboration across systems of care. She has extensive knowledge and experience training Law Enforcement Officers to recognize autism in their professional roles and increasing skill and confidence for successful de-escalation.

Dr. Harrison is an Associate Professor and director of the School Psychology program at the University of Georgia. She directs the Child Attention and Autism Research and Evaluation (CAARE) Lab. The CAARE Lab conducts research to help grow autism knowledge and reduce stigma to promote a better quality of life for autistic individuals worldwide. We are interested in diminishing the disparities experienced by underserved families and increasing the quality of support for neurodiverse young adults in our community.
